WS2Flash Codes
Make Toyota Model L4-FE Year 1998Flash/Blink Codes and procedure
Turn the ignition switch ON with the engine not running
We start from operning the diagnostic plug than a “jumper wire” connect terminals to “TEI” and “ET”.
We start from operning the diagnostic plug than a “jumper wire” connect terminals to “TEI” and “ET”.
The Fault Code shown from the check engine light are 41, 31 and 24. The engine give us clue where to look to find the problem.
2 Trouble Codes or Fault Codes
This is the list of codes for Toyota (L4-FE)
Fault Code | ltem | Fault Code | ltem |
1 | Normal | 13 | NE Signal Circuit |
2 | Vacuum Sensor Signal | 14 | Ignition Circuit |
3 | Ignition Signal | 16 | ECT Control Signal |
4 | Water Temperature Signal | 21 | Oxygen Sensor Circuit |
6 | RPM Signal | 22 | Water Temperature Circuit |
7 | Throttle Position Sensor | 24 | Intake Air Temperature Circuit |
8 | Intake Air Temperature | 25 | Air/Fuel Ratio Lean Malfunction |
9 | Vehicle Speed Sensor | 31 | Vacuum Sensor Circuit |
10 | Starter Signal | 33 | Idle Speed Control System |
11 | Air Conditioner Switch | 41 | Throttle Position Sensor Circuit |
12 | G, NE Signal Circuit |
Record codes
Code number | System affected | Condition described |
41 | TPSC | Disconnect. ruff (faulty) |
31 | MAP (vacuum sensor) | Disconnect. ruff (faulty) |
24 | Intake Air Temp | Disconnect. ruff (faulty) |
Visual Inspection to find fault
This video shows fault code from the engine light.
This video shows fault code from the engine light.
Describe the problem(s) you found:
Firstly we voltage drop the signal volt witch is low and the engine is running ruff and rich, each of these problems were identifying by flash codes. For example the TPS shown from the check engine light, flash four time than last to one flash.
Repair fault
Plug back in the connector, or repair problem found
Describe what you did:
Once the fault detected than erase it by plug the sensor back in the connector. And with the ECU monitor the operation of each sensors result the amount of fuel which need in the engine.
Clear Codes
Erase the codes by connect the plug back to the terminals and check other faults. We also determine the voltage drop from the signal to ECU at this particular moment while the engine idling.
Recheck for codes and record codes in system now:
With TPS fixed but Vacuum sensor still remain fault indicate.
How could the faults found affect the engine performance?
The engine run ruff at idling, showing bad start and run in low range (run richer or lean)
Discuss what other tests you should be doing once you have found the fault
codes:
Test the voltage drop of the reference volts from ECU and signal voltage from the sensor. This would indicate of any bad connection to wires and bad earth. Bad ECU would affect the reference supply voltage, bad signal would affect sensors and ground would be poor earth trigger.
